Lush Review: Ocean Salt

30 Mar

ocean salt IMG_2231_2

Smells like limes and the ocean. It cleans my face and exfoliates all the dead skin off from my forehead, neck and chin. Much needed on a weekly basis for pampering.

Ocean Salt = My favourite Lush product!

Lush Review: Make-Up & Lip Tint

23 Mar

Make-up is huge.
Finding proper make-up is hard to do. You need to do so much trial and error. You need to consider your skin tones that change from season to season, what will help your skin not break out, how expensive is it, etc. I’d say I’m pretty happy with Lush’s make-up. At first I thought it didn’t bring enough coverage (I bought it at the same time as my skin-care products) and was kind of disappointed. But as I used my new cleanser and toner, my skin got better and the make-up did a much better job.

I have very fair (Snow White!) skin in the winter, and got myself their fairest shade. The foundation ‘Jakie Oates‘ does not leave my face cake-like at all, it sinks into and blends into the skin after a few minutes and voila! perfect skin. This is good news for someone like me who has pleeenty of acne scars. It doesn’t clog the pores and doesn’t have that oily glaze that sits on top of your make-up when you get really hot… *cough* I’m looking at you Body Shop. The powder ‘Emotional Brilliance‘ only works well with the foundation however – I find it can’t be used by itself if you’re in a rush. They pair really nicely together.

The only small things that I’d change are that it could come in bigger jars, the powder had some mesh netting to help with portion control and the foundation’s top layer to not spoil if you leave it without the cap overnight! But that’s my fault. Just be careful and your make-up will be fine! You can easily scrape it off come morning. I hope to have the courage to get the wheatgrass mascara (woah) and solid perfumes. Blows my mind because I’m just like, how can perfume be solid??? My sheltered life has only known liquid perfume.Lush Make-up

Two peas in a pod.

lush lip tint

The lip tint ‘A Million Kisses‘ I found to be very rich and creamy and the colour to be exactly as is on the tin. Its only flaw is I wish I didn’t have to apply it so often! Ah well. Great colour and doesn’t dry out the lips!

Lush Review: Bath Melt & Bomb

19 Mar

Lush review time, hollaaaa. Who’s excited?!?!
…Just me? Cool.

lush bath melt mango

You’ve Been Mangoed” is something I will hold and smell every time I walk into a Lush store. Mango Bath Melts are my crack. I’d recommend breaking it in quarters or half, and you just let it melt in a hot bath. I like to hold the left over pieces in the bath like you would a bar of soap, rub it all over, and let the heat of your skin melt it. The scent is crazy good. If you suffer from dry and not so sensitive skin, this is definitely a product to consider. If you don’t have problem skin and just need some pampering, get it too!

lush bath bomb

And second up, this bath bomb!
The days of autumn and winter are almost done. Spring is poking its head up slowly. If you’re a fan of winter smells (like me), the colour purple (the movie too, like me), I’d suggest getting this bath bomb. It’s called Pheonix Rising* and it’s basically an apple pie in your bathtub. It’s got the smell of apples and cinnamon, and has Organic Jojoba Oil (what the eff is jojoba and why is it not in my life more) and various other oils to help out your skin in dry or cold months. Bath bombs are kind of bizarre because they start out beautiful in your hand, then when they reach the bath they sort of looking like a volcano that isn’t yet done spewing molten lava out of the crevices it’s made itself. But! It eventually all melts and turns your bathwater pink. How cool. Definitely recommend, It gives you a really nice moisturizing experience and doesn’t leave you glittery.

*side note: How awesome is that name?

Lush Review: Skin Care Regime

14 Mar

lush skin care

Alriiiight the ultimate skin care regime. At least for me, ha.
So I love Lush and I really didn’t have a skin care team about a month ago so I thought ‘well maybe my skin deserves to not look like shit all the time, go for it, buy it’. No regrets.

Cleanser: Herbalism. Great for oily, ance, blemished skin, i.e. my skin. Smells pretty great too. You take just a little bit, add water and it turns into a paste that you cover your face with and rinse right after. Simple pimple. Over the course of this month it got rid of my clogged pores, and got rid of my acne pretty fast whenever it did pop up. I don’t think I can say anything bad about this cleanser. Will be using it again!

Toner: Tea Tree Water. This is my favourite out of the three products that I use. If I’m feeling lazy or have zero time in the morning, I just spray this on and go. It gets rid of oil instantly and help my face feel clean. Has the fresh scent of tea tree oils and grapefruit. Love love love it.

Moisturizer: Vanishing Cream. This product didn’t especially wow me but it does its job to moisturize and it smells like lavender. It’s got the consistency of warm margarine (not in a gross way) and it’ll be good for my dry face in the winter months. It’s a touch expensive so I’m not sure I’d get it again but it’ll last me forever even with the small size, so I guess it’s cost effective in that respect. I would get a sample if you’re ever unsure of this, or any product at Lush. Moisturizers can clog pours of some skin-types despite it being designed for the face.

Thanks loves, have a fantastic day!

Lush Review: Body Butters & Ocean Salt

7 Mar

lush charity pot

Got myself some moisturizer that’ll help save the wooorld!
Well, maybe not the world but certainly at least one person or animal. These specific pots donate 100% of the price to various charities Lush is a part of, and also keeps your dry hands and elbows silky soft. Sounds like a win-win. I’m really happy with mine and you can read more about it here if you like the sounds of saving the world!

lush free samples

I got some samples recently as well and can’t wait to try them. The Ocean Salt smells freaking amazing. The body butter there smells quite nutty and I’m sure I’ll love it. Reviewing soon! Keep smiling.
